So you think you’re pregnant…
By SuperMom | March 3, 2008
My husband and I were trying to conceive our first child for a few months. Each time, I really believed I was pregnant. I read online all about early pregnancy symptoms…and guess what? I had them all! Nauseous…yup, I was nauseous, frequent bathroom trips…yes, I felt the need to use the bathroom more often, sensitive breasts…definitely, but each time my period eventually came, and my excitement disappeared. I was “imagining” these symptoms. This went on for a few months. After some time, I got less hopeful and “imagined” these symptoms less and less. So much so, that at one time I vomited up my dinner, and didn’t assume it was related to pregnancy at all. My husband tried to convince me that maybe I’m pregnant. I tried to convince him otherwise. He was stubborn and continued saying that I don’t have a weak stomach. I never vomit unless I’m sick. I really wanted to believe him, but I was nervous to get disappointed once again. My natural response would’ve been, “let me take a pregnancy test,” but I was determined not to see another “not pregnant” on those home pregnancy tests … it just wasn’t fun anymore. I’m sure that those of you trying to conceive and going through the same ordeal, know exactly what I mean.
Sure enough, my husband’s intuitions were correct. I waited for my period to come and when it didn’t and then still didn’t, I finally mustered up the courage to take a pregnancy test. These days, pregnancy tests are great! I used the EPT home pregnancy test, which is easy to use, clear, and gives you results quickly! You also don’t have to take it early morning, so like me, if you want to find out in the evening, you can go ahead and check out the results right away. Also, just as a suggestion, since home pregnancy test are pretty expensive, especially if you use a whole bunch of them since it’s taking you some time to conceive, buy the double pack…it’s much more economical!
Back to me, I went and took the test…and finally what I’ve been waiting for…PREGNANT! There it was, in a nice, clear font! There was no way of mistaking it for “not pregnant.” I couldn’t believe it! I ran to my husband to show him, and we began jumping! Finally, what we’ve been waiting for!
My thought began to run wild… what fun it’ll be to buy maternity clothing, where would I buy maternity clothing, what color scheme would I want for the nursery, where would I shop for baby furniture, what baby basics will I need…I couldn’t keep up with my thoughts. It was all too new and too exciting for me. My husband being the more practical one, told me to take it slow and suggested we should first confirm the pregnancy with my OBGYN…so that’s what we did a few weeks later….
